Horst Hoopmann GmbH has been specializing in the development and production of special machines and systems for decades.
The project envisages the development of a low-cost bin picking system. Bin picking is an automated process in which an industrial robot separates objects from a chaotic fill – such as a box – and places them in an orderly manner. Object recognition is usually carried out with the help of a 3D image processing system, which determines the exact position and orientation of the parts. By combining robotics, sensor technology and intelligent software, manual, monotonous and time-consuming handling processes can be automated.
The planned low-cost system is intended to be particularly attractive for medium-sized companies. Low investment costs, easy integration into existing processes, robust functionality even under varying framework conditions, and modular scalability are essential requirements for this. The implementation is intended to create a practical, economically usable system that significantly lowers the barrier to entry into robot-assisted automation.
